To Scoop or not to Scoop?

I was faced with a moral dilemma today and wondered what you would've done. I had Kendall out at the local park today that has trash cans and poop bags readily available throughout the park. There are also numerous signs asking you to clean up after your pet. A woman walking her dog stood there on the path and watched as her large dog pooped right in the middle of the path. Rather than picking it up, she turned and walked away. My jaw just dropped, and I decided not to say anything. Would you have said something to her? Should I have picked up her dog's poop?

I think I would have said something like "Excuse me I think you forgot something!" It's hard to speak out sometimes. It depends on the situation and how brave we feel at the time. Don't feel bad if you didn't. That's just rude isn't it. We went to the beach with Marley & Jasper last weekend and Marley had swallowed a lot of seawater. So you can imagine what we enjoyed scooping up after half an hour....but still I couldn't just walk away. It's a community responsibility to keep our parks/beaches clean and as dog owners we owe it to others to clean up after our pets.

Well, I have very little tolerance for rude people, but I admit that I probably wouldn't confront her about it. It's a shame that people like that can spoil the fun for others, but it's a part of life. Some people will always follow the rules, while others will always break them. It's unfortunate, but true.

Assuming that there was no physical limitations that prevented the woman from cleaning up,,,there's no question that she is just plain ignorant. My experience tells me that the ignorant walking among the human world simply couldn't care less what you, or I, think about their actions. You did the right thing in not confronting her, as the confrontation would probably have bothered you much more than her. But, yes, I think the right thing to do would be cleaning it up quickly while she could posssibly see you doing so, while completely ignoring any comments she may have had about your actions.
By the way, it's nice to meet you & Kendall,,,,found your blog off the Sat. Blog Hop roll.

I've watched people leave their pup's poop on the ground and of course if I'm driving by I have no way of reminding that person to scoop it but lots of times while at the dog park I will repeat the quote that "Love My Cavaliers" wrote in the comment section here.
Good question! Great blog! I am your newest follower via the blog hop!

Hello!... New follower from the Saturday Pet Blogger Hop!

I definitely would have had to say something. I always try to pick up after Lucy, as a courtesy to other dog parents.
