Puppy Lemon Laws

I came across some information in the Bottom Line on puppy lemon laws. There are currently 20 states, including Oregon, that have lemon laws that provide legal recourse to people who purchase animals from pet dealers, later found to have a disease or defect. You can view a chart that outlines the laws in different states on the AVMA web site.

Don't worry, Kendall doesn't need this. I just thought it was a good piece of information to share.

Kendall's on vacation

Kendall went to stay with one of my co-workers and his dog, Tucker, a Samoyed. Tucker's stayed at our house before, and she and Kendall get along great. We miss her, but I hear she's having fun and charming my co-worker's neighbors. Meanwhile, we're away in Central Oregon staying at a place that doesn't allow pets. Here's a picture I received last night. Look like Kendall's making herself at home.

When we headed out on a bike ride after dinner last night we ran into a lady with four Cavaliers - 3 on lead and one following behind. She had three Blenheims and a Ruby. The one that was following behind had found a dead chimpmunk (or whatever you call them here.) It would not leave it. Sounds familiar. Then, today, out on our bike ride, we ran into a family with their Blenheim Cavalier in a basket on the front of the guy's bike. The dog was a cutie. There are Cavaliers everywhere! I can't wait to bring Kendall here sometime. Here, as in to the resort, not to the wonderful place we are staying.

Day at the Beauty Parlor

Kendall went to see Deb at Deb's Laundra-Mutt today. She came home looking really pretty with bows in her hair. The funny thing is, she knows she looks pretty.

Yappy Hour - June

This month's Yappy Hour was held at Ready, Paint, Fire, a paint your own ceramics place, in the Pearl District. It was also where they announced the winners of the Oregon Humane Society's annual photo contest, The Fuzzy, Furry, and Feathered Friends Photo Contest.

It was really crowded, and Kendall had a great time meeting all of the dogs and people.

We took her to Paragon Restaurant right down the street for dinner before we went to Yappy Hour. They have some of the best food! We sat outside at a sidewalk table, and they brought out a plate of dog biscuits for Kendall and a bowl of water with ice cubes just for her. I love that place.

Stub Stewart State Park

We took Kendall camping last weekend at Stub Stewart State Park just west of Portland. It's a fairly new park that just opened last year. It has nice big sites with gravel pads. With all the rain we get in Oregon, it's nice to be able to go camping and not get muddy. We got a great site not too far from the bathrooms.

Here's Kendall all ready for bed. We got a new quilt to go on the bed in the trailer. It's hard to see, but it has bears, fish, elk, trees, and canoes on it.

Kendall decided that she was going to sit in the chair. She's squinting because the sun was shining in her eyes.

Pets on Parade, Baths, and a New Dog Park

We had a really busy Sunday. It all started with a trip to Pup-a-razzi for a bath. Kendall was smelling like a dog and her beauty appointment with Deb of Deb's Laundra-Mutt isn't until the 25th. They have a great set up there with everything you need for a do-it-yourself dog wash, including shampoo, wash tubs, towels, combs and brushes, scissors, and a blow dryer. She came home smelling a whole lot better and looking really fluffy.

Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation had their annual Pets on Parade at Millennium Park. We took Kendall down so she could do some socializing and schmoozing. She loves all the attention. We entered her in the pet parade and one of the contests. She didn't win, but she did get a participation ribbon. Here are some pictures from today:

We rounded out the day by going to the Lake Oswego Dog Park at Luscher Farms. It's a nice dog park. We ran into someone I used to teach with during my teaching days.

All in all, it was a fun, busy day. Kendall is exhausted.

Poop bags

Our annual supply of poop bags arrived yesterday. We get our poop bags from poopbags.com. I like them because they're 100% biodegradable. That way Kendall's poop won't be sitting in a landfill 10 years from now entombed in a regular plastic bag. They ship really fast and there's free shipping in the US. Two thumbs up for PoopBags.com!

DUCK!

Kendall had a stuffed duck that quacked when squeezed that she absolutely loved. We got it through the gift exchange with the family last Christmas. It was Kendall's favorite toy. Unfortunately, it met its demise last week when it was gutted by our favorite bird dog.

We went shopping at the outlet mall today where they have a pet store. We found a new duck (or rather a Canada goose) that quacks the same and looks almost exactly like her original duck. She was soooooo excited when we gave it to her this afternoon. She's carrying it all over the house.
