Oregon Coast

We headed off to the coast on Saturday with Kendall and the trailer. We heard from the weather man that it was supposed to be a beautiful day at the coast. Here's what we found.

We camped at South Beach State Park, just south of Newport. Surprisingly, the campground was almost full. There were a lot of big rigs there but also a few pop ups and tents. This was Kendall's first visit to the beach. There's a nice paved trail that heads out to the dunes.

The ocean!! Wheeeeeeee!

Kendall was wet and sandy when we got back to camp.

She's right at home in the trailer.

We woke up on Sunday to a beautiful day at the coast.

Graduation

What a busy week it has been! NSTA was in town, so that meant some extra duties for me. I'm a little late getting this posted, but here are the pictures from Riley's and Kendall's graduation from puppy preschool on Tuesday night.

There was a series of contests. Kendall won the down/stay contest and the most number of tricks contest, while Riley won the fastest puppy race. Kendall performed her repertoire of tricks including sit, down, roll over, speak, spin, shake, and target. We need to find some new tricks to teach her. Now, if we could only get her to come when called as reliably as she spins on command...

Runnin' with the Big Dogs

We took Kendall out to Hondo Dog Park in Hillsboro this morning. We heard it was a great dog park with a nice small dog play area. When we got there, we found that the small dog area was closed for maintenance and everyone had to play together in the winter dog area. It's a big area covered with sand so it doesn't get too muddy. Kendall wasn't scared one bit and jumped right in to play with the labs, pit bulls, and shepherds. She might not have been scared but we were. She seemed to have a good time but we were afraid that something might happen to her. Most of the dog owners were very aware of what their dogs were doing but there were some there that were overly playful. She got cornered by about 5 big dogs at one point. That's when we snatched her up and decided to take our ball and go home. We'll try the park again when the small dog area is open.

Doggie Day Camp

I had to go to New Orleans for a couple of days for work and Clyde tagged along. That meant leaving Kendall at home for three days. Luckily, we were able to get Clyde's niece to come stay with her at our house. I wasn't ready to board her yet and thought it would be a good idea to keep her routine as close to usual as possible. Even luckier for Kendall, Clyde's niece works at PetSmart in the PetHotel part of the store. Kendall went to doggie day camp while T worked. We were able to catch a candid photo before Kendall knew we were there to pick her up. She looked like she was having a lot of fun.

Bailey and a water feature

Kendall, Clyde, and I took a Sunday drive to McMinnville today. The sun was peeking through the clouds and there are still a lot of leaves on the trees. The colors on the trees have been especially beautiful this year. Usually the leaves turn quickly, we get a storm, and all the leaves fall off at once. Not this year.

We stopped to visit Rick, Patty, and Bailey, Kendall's older brother. He's a tri-color Cavalier. The two Cavaliers got along great. There was a lot of Cavalier talk going on as well as a lot of playing. Kendall decided she wanted to try out their pond in the backyard. She launched herself into the pond/waterfall without hesitation. She seemed to know what to do. She quickly swam to the side as Clyde fished her out of the pond. I wish I had my camera with me. We were all laughing so hard, I don't know that we could've captured it on camera.

There's nothing like the smell of wet dog in the car.

The Rainy Season is Here

Cavaliers and More Cavaliers

We took Kendall to Cavalier Play Day at Urban Fauna yesterday. It's put on by the Oregon Trail Cavalier Club. There must've been 30 or more Cavaliers there. It happens the first Sunday of every month.
