National Dog Day

Happy National Dog Day! What better way to celebrate than a trip to the groomer? Kendall goes to a great groomer that we found by way of another dog owner. She goes to Debbie at Deb's Laundra Mutt in Beaverton. She always comes home looking so cute and smelling much, much better.

She was acting goofy in the back yard, so I decided to play along and shoot some goofy pictures.

Let the Adventures Begin!

Today is my last day of work before I embark on a series of events better known as vacation/sabbatical. I am lucky to work for a company that gives you a 4-week sabbatical after ten years of service. We're allowed to tack up to 2 weeks of PTO on to that for a total of 6 weeks off! I have some wonderful adventures planned for Kendall and me. Stay tuned!

Rascal wine

I was in the store yesterday and a label on a bottle of wine caught my eye. The wine is called Rascal Pinot Noir, and it has a sillouhette of a dog on it.

 

The reason why it caught my eye is because one of the dogs we had when I was growing up was named Rascal. She was a little TerriPoo that made her way to our house by way of the vet who lived next door. She was cute as anything as a puppy - aren't they all - but she grew into a little terror. She would eat anything, and I mean anything. She ate everything metal that she could find. She ate buttons off of blouses, she ate tissues; you name it, she ate it. She even ate my mom's good gold earrings once. I remember mom followed her around for awhile, and finally got them back. Not only did she eat everything, she wouldn't let you take it away. She'd hide under the dining room table and bite anyone who went under there to retrieve whatever it was she was eating.

I noticed that the dog on the wine label has a little halo hanging over his head. I sure hope this wine is a lot better than Rascal was.

We had a fun time at the annual Dog Day Afternoon. We ran into Molly and Miss Muffett, a tri-color Cavalier. There were dancing dogs, fly dogs, and dogs of every shape and size.

Salmonella Symptoms for Humans
Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Hazeldale Dog Park's 8th Annual Dog Day Afternoon

Tomorrow is the annual fund raiser for the Hazeldale Dog Park, an off-leash park in Aloha, OR. They hold it each year to help pay the lease for the land. It runs from 10 am to 4 pm and features Vendors, Food, Raffles, Dog Contests, Blessing of the Animals, Rescue Groups, X-Fidos Flyball, Canine Freestyle, AKC Canine Good Citizen Testing, Skyhoundz Disc Dog Competion, and more. Admission is free.

Hazeldale Park is located off of Farmington Rd. near SW 192nd.

Fun Day

Yesterday Kendall and I attended the Oregon Trail Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club's annual Fun Day. It started as a cool, cloudy day but ended up being a gorgeous day here in Oregon. There were about 30 or so people there and lots of Cavaliers representing all of the colors that Cavaliers can be. The host had a beautiful fenced in yard with lots of room for the dogs to run around. 

There were games to play including musical hula hoops, agility, fastest runner, fastest eater, longest sit stay, and lots of others.
